APG 1214 (APG1200UP)
Product Introduction
Lauryl Glucoside 1200UP, also known as lauryl glucoside or C12-16 alkyl polyglycoside (APG), is a non-ionic surfactant synthesized through a specific process using glucose and C12-16 fatty alcohols. It appears as a milky white or pale yellow viscous liquid, with an active matter content ranging from 50.0% to 53.0% and a pH value of approximately 11.5 to 12.5. This product is non-toxic, non-irritating, and easily biodegradable. It boasts excellent foaming and foam stabilizing properties, as well as good acid and alkali resistance and electrolyte stability. It is widely used in cosmetics and personal care products, such as shampoos, facial cleansers, and body washes.
Product Applications
Personal Care Sector
Lauryl Glucoside 1200UP, as an efficient non-ionic surfactant, is ideal for shampoos, facial cleansers, and body washes due to its mild and non-irritating nature. It not only provides abundant foam for a pleasant cleansing experience but also significantly reduces the irritancy of the formula, protecting users' skin from harm.
Daily Chemical Cleaning Sector
In the daily chemical cleaning sector, Lauryl Glucoside 1200UP is widely used in various cleansers, such as dishwashing liquids and floor cleaners, thanks to its biodegradability. While effectively removing stains, it poses no burden on the environment, aligning with modern consumers' eco-friendly demands. Additionally, its good acid and alkali resistance and electrolyte stability allow it to maintain stable cleaning performance under various extreme conditions, extending product lifespan.
Industrial Applications
Lauryl Glucoside 1200UP also finds wide application in the industrial sector. In the textile industry, it serves as an emulsifier, aiding dyes and auxiliaries to better penetrate fibers, enhancing dyeing effects. In oil extraction, it functions as a foaming agent, improving oil recovery efficiency. Furthermore, due to its non-toxic and non-irritating properties, it is also used in the pharmaceutical industry as an excipient in certain drugs, ensuring drug safety and effectiveness.

Product guidance
The turbidity of the product is attributable to a combination of its magnesium oxide content (maximum 600 ppm magnesium) and the pH value at which it is supplied. This turbidity does not negatively affect the product's properties and will disappear when the pH value is adjusted to below 7. APG 1214 is a nonionic surfactant with good dermatological compatibility and offers viscosity-enhancing effects. Consequently, it is suitable for use as an additive or co-surfactant in cosmetic surfactant cleansing preparations.
Examples of use include laundry detergents, liquid hand dish detergents, and industrial and institutional cleaners: APG 1214 is well-suited for laundry applications where micellar solubilization, emulsification, and detergency are required. These alkyl polyglucoside surfactants function as conventional non-ionic surfactants but are easy to formulate because they do not exhibit a gel phase upon dilution. APG 1214 is soluble and stable in liquid formulations containing high levels of builders and electrolytes. Additionally, these alkyl polyglucoside surfactants are compatible and, in some cases, synergistic with enzymes, optical brighteners, and other surfactants, including cationics.
In products such as liquid hand dish detergents, where high foaming and good detergency are required, APG 1214 provides excellent performance coupled with outstanding mildness to the skin.
Storage and transportation
Storage Conditions for APG 1214
APG 1214 should be stored in its sealed, original containers to protect it from moisture and contamination. The product must be kept away from frost and maintained at temperatures below 43°C to ensure a minimum shelf life of at least two years. It is crucial that the maximum storage temperature does not exceed 43°C.
Heating Guidelines
When heating APG 1214, avoid prolonged exposure to localized temperatures above 43°C to prevent potential discoloration. If possible, use tempered water during the heating process. Low-pressure steam can also be used, provided the product is regularly monitored. For easier handling, the product can be warmed up to a maximum of 50°C for a short duration without affecting its specifications.
Precautions Against Crystallization and Sedimentation
If APG 1214 is stored at temperatures below 38°C, crystallization may occur. Depending on the storage duration, sedimentation may also take place. Therefore, before using the product, it should be heated and stirred until it becomes uniform. It's important to note that APG 1214 has a high pH value and does not contain any preservatives.
Bulk Storage Recommendations
For bulk storage, carbon steel should not be used to store or handle APG 1214 due to the risk of iron contamination. Instead, it is recommended to use plastic drums or Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), as both are acceptable storage solutions.
